Hellhound

I was rewriting a fight scene for my first novel, and it occurred to me that many of the details I'd added in the initial draft had undoubtedly been put there for a reason -- but I couldn't remember what the reason was! I couldn't remember what my original inspiration for the hellhound was. So I did a few Google searches, looking at how demonic dog-style creatures had been portrayed in the media, and almost all of them were very straggly, mangy things. That wasn't what I wanted at all. I'd originally described them as having spines and nostrils that leaked poisonous green gases. Dunno where I got the idea from, but the almost porcupine idea stuck with me. But I didn't want it to look like one of the felbeasts from Blizzard's Warcraft series, so this is what I ended up with after an hour's sketching. I rather like the multiple eyes and skull-like head.
